The BITE7 Framework™

EOS® and Employee Engagement

EOS has a few sayings like:

  • “What gets measured gets done.” and,
  • “You must inspect what you expect.” and,
  • “Measurement saves time…”

Your BITE Index will become a measurable on your V/TO that you improve year-over-year.

“Big reveal… EOS is a trust building program.”

– Gino Wickman in 2009

At root, EOS is a trust building program, and for those of you who have experienced an official EOS 2 Day Annual you know we subscribe to Lencioni’s trust pyramid.

We remember the quote above and being taught this by Gino during one of our EOS Implementer Trainings back in 2009, when there were only 19 Implementers.

Since then, we have been focused on learning how to measure trust and take action through the EOS Tools.

The BITE7 Framework™

When you build trust everything gets better.

As life long students of Employee Engagement and Implementers of EOS since 2008, we have created a simple 7 Question Survey and BITE Index™ that measures the effectiveness of your EOS Implementation to deliver high levels of Employee Engagement and Organizational Health – what we call BITE – Buy-in, Inclusion, Trust and Engagement.

When you can simplify the messaging and measurement around Employee Engagement and then tie the message and measurement directly to the effective use of your EOS tools you have the ability to take your EOS implementation to the next level.

It is how you flip the script, allowing your people to see EOS as something you are doing FOR them and not TO them.

Seven Simple Questions. BITE7™ is anchored in real-world research around Employee Engagement; what Millennials want from work; and what makes organizational operating systems like EOS® and Scaling Up™ work, and not work. To understand the research and background read Walt Brown’s book – Attract or Repel

We talk about the Seven Promises openly, and it’s part of our EOS presentation.  I stand up in front of everybody and tell them it’s my job to lead an organization where there’s a high degree of belonging, which is based on shared belief and a common understanding of who we are as a company and what we’re trying to do. We want to create a place where people understand and embrace what they’re accountable for, which comes with a commitment from the company to create great ways to measure what we do. We have ears to listen, so speak up. We’re excited about you leaning in and being able to self-develop and, ultimately, to achieve balance.

I was 28 when Walt helped transform my career, and ultimately my life as we worked together to discover the Seven Questions.  His approach through the BITE7, his mastery of how they tie to the EOS® OOS model, and his knowledge of how humans work, along with his coaching, is unmatched.

“When we presented the seven questions and seven promises to our group it completely transformed our culture and how we view EOS and Traction. As a founder, I want everyone to have the same passion I have about my business, and with the seven questions and getting to yes, I am now able to develop my staff and have them see their careers within this business while becoming extremely passionate, engaged, and healthy.”

Your BITE Index™.

Employee engagement efforst fail for three reasons. A. They are too complex. B. They are not consistent. C. They are not linked closely to the tools of a system like EOS.

When your people take the 7 Question Survey, you and your team get a BITE Report called the BITE Index that puts a score to how healthy your organization is. Our clients shoot for > 80 and that is where the magic happens.

If your BITE Index is less than 80 then you will be average.  The index shows you:

  1. Where are we the strongest?
  2. Where are we the weakest?
  3. Which area has the biggest deficiency?
  4. What should be our first priority?
  5. What EOS tools do we need to sharpen?

BITE7 Framework™

What if your people could answer YES to these seven questions week after week?

  1. Do I Belong? Yes.
  2. Do I Believe? Yes.
  3. Do I understand and embrace what I am Accountable for? Yes.
  4. Do I understand and embrace how I am Measured? Yes.
  5. Do I understand and embrace how I am Heard? Yes.
  6. Do I understand and embrace how I am Developed? Yes.
  7. Do I understand and embrace how I maintain Balance? Yes.

How to 10X

linking EOS, Pinnacle, or Scaling Up to BITE7 and making the combO your approach to employee engagement

Walt Brown - the creator of the BITE7 Framework and veteran of over 200 EOS Implementations describes in this video the opportunity gap you have in front of you to 10x on EOS.  It describes where you are hitting the ceiling in your EOS journey. It describes how embracing EOS as an employee engagement method and how measuring with BITE7 will flip the script and close the gap between the health you experience as a Sr. Leadership Team and your organization's health. Closing this gap is where the magic happens and leads to almost infinite growth to 10x.

We Believe

Employee Engagement

is a Promise.

EOS enables you to keep your promises.

Your promise sounds like this: “Everyone, I am making a promise to you. A promise I plan to keep with your help. I promise to surround you with people who know they Belong, who Believe in what we are doing, who understand and embrace how they are Accountable to themselves, to you and to everyone else, who get how they are Measured, who actively share their thoughts and want to be Heard, who always have an attitude of growth and want to be Developed and who are free of drama because they are Balanced. This is the kind of organization I always dreamed of and the one, with your help, I intend to build and protect.”

The BITE7 Survey™ addresses these four areas:

  • 7 Employee Engagement Questions

  • 7 Things Millennials want from work

  • 7 Truths, why EOS® and Scaling up work and don’t work.

  • 7 Truths around where you need help in your EOS Implementation.

To be effective, your employee engagement effort must address these 3 things:

  • It must be Simple and Consistent – fewer questions are better, always the same.
  • It must map clearly to the tools of an operating system like EOS @.
  • It must be seen by your employees as something being done for them, not to them.
